Ogden Sierra Club -- Adopt a Roadless Area
Upper South Fork
This 17,000-acre roadless area lies east of Causey Reservoir,
extending northward to the Monte Cristo plateau. It is the only portion of the
Ogden Ranger District that is recommended for wilderness status by the
Forest Service. Several excellent hiking trails provide for dispersed
recreation and solitude.
Issues affecting this unit include:
- Mapping proposed wilderness boundaries.
- Maintaining the crucial wildlife corridor between the Uinta Mountains and the northern Rockies.
- Allegations of illegal activities such as motorized travel and elk herding.
- Trail maintenance.
