Lewis Peak hike, 31 May 2003. This is one of Ogden's most scenic trails, with views of Ben Lomond to the north and Mt. Ogden to the south. During the peak wildflower season in late spring, it's nothing short of spectacular. |

Brigham Wildlife Management Area, 24 May 2003. We hiked a steep, eroded trail up to Balsam Basin, the location of this photo. Although the Division of Wildlife Resources had apparently opened the trail to motorized use, we had it all to ourselves on this beautiful Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. |

Wolf Creek Wilderness Park, 3 May 2003. A few years ago, Weber County illicitly sold this 160-acre parcel at the headwaters of Wolf Creek. Thanks to the efforts of Ogden Valley activists and a favorable decision by the Utah Supreme Court, the land is again in public ownership. Hooray! |

Adams Canyon hike, 7 September 2002. This canyon in eastern Davis County is the gem of the Francis roadless area, proposed for wilderness status by the Ogden Sierra Club. Due to a conflict with heli-skiing on the ridges above, the Forest Service has not recommended wilderness protection for this area. |

Exploring the Powder Mountain plateau, 21 July 2002. At the time, this rural land was targeted by a developer who intended to build a sprawling gated subdivision. Facing economic troubles and opposition from the Weber County Commission, the developer withdrew his proposal a few months later. |
